Do it Yourself Christmas... Last post for 2009!

Christmas Tree with our handmade presents!

This Christmas was different and funny. We decided to make our own presents instead of buying them. It was another great experience for all of us.

We started to make them really late, two days before Christmas. Crazy, isn't it? But unfortunately we didn't have free time before. So we made some simple but necessary presents. Not too much, just enough to share some love.

I made little presents for them with a lot of love. Everything that I make normally takes hours to finish it because I really like to put in my feelings, my intentions, emotions, etc, etc... in other words just my life.

I love to make little cute pincushions because my mind goes far away when I grab my needle and thread and I start to embroider them.

The music that the sewing machine makes gives me pleasure every time, it's like to be in heaven! Since I was little I liked this sound so much . My grandmothers used to sew a lot. They had the old Singer sewing machine that I loved. When I went to visit my grandparents every summer I used to sit down in front or her sewing machine and dream sewing something because I wanted to hear the sound. Now I play with my own modern sewing machine. The sound is quite different but it's still the music that I need to live everyday.

That was my Christmas for 2009. I hope you all had a great Christmas day too.

2009 was a tough year for me and I hope this new year 2010 will be different for all of us!

New Projects!

Materials for my new project!

I'm working on a new project. For the moment no more bags :-( I need to do something else. I don't like to do only one thing forever, that kills me. I'm a person that has to do different kinds of art all the time to explore more techniques, materials, ideas. Learning from every mistake everyday :-)

Anyway I'm painting again :-)) I started yesterday at 3:00 o'clock in the morning ( crazy girl ) I painted a new tree. I love trees and I think every artist has their own way to interpret them. This is my unique way :-)) To paint it I used my adorable acrylic paint ( Van Gogh ) and black china ink. The poor paints are drying in my Studio because I stopped using them for too long. That means I have to do something with them.

Today at 6:00 p.m I started drawing a new face. When you are inspired with some ideas inside your head you cannot stop! just keep going and this is what I'm doing right now. I want to make another mixed media doll. This is the first idea that I got but sometimes we have to change our mind during the process. Will see! I painted it using Prismacolor pencils and china ink.

Me and my left over fabric pool!

The other night I had some good time. I was in my studio with my daughter like always and I wanted to make something new. I'm talking about new designs, appliques . So I looked at my pile of left over fabric that I have inside a mesh. I grabbed it and put all the little pieces of fabric on the floor to see what kind of colors I still had.

It was like having a little swimming pool inside my house. I couldn't resist the idea to dive into my fabric pool. I did it and my daughter immediately got my iPhone to take a picture of her silly mother. I was swimming !! Hooray!

Of course after me my sweetheart daughter dived in as well. We had some fun that midnight!

After laughing about ourselves I started picking some little pieces to put them on the top of my pouches. I wanted to have some textures in those specials pouches. I made them using my polyester jacquard fabric that I bought some years ago. That fabric is really beautiful and I think the little touch that I put on the top of them it gives them a vintage and modern twist. I just wanted to feel in my pouches the wrinkles that we get trough years of wisdom and beauty:-)

They are my new collection. One-of-a-kind! Quilted inside!

Great ideas always come after the Storm :-))

I'm still sewing more pouches, clutches, Christmas ornaments, brooches, etc, etc. I'm crazy! I love what I do and I think you can feel it!
